The Institute is actively engaging with the Government at every opportunity and ensuring that we are able to respond to consultations, relaying the views of our members, or where this is not possible, ensuring that we accurately portray who has been involved in shaping the response.
We are keen to set up specialist panels to assist in responding to consultations. We know already from our Taxi Working Party, that a small group of people with an interest in a specific area of licensing can work together effectively coordinating the consultation response, and identifying issues with existing and proposed legislation.
Many thanks to everyone who has volunteered to sit on a panel!We have had a overwhelming response and will now look to select members for each of our panels looking at Alcohol & Entertainment, Gambling, Miscellaneous Licensing and Taxis. We will let everyone know the position as soon as possible.
The Institute of Licensing is delighted to announce the re-establishment of the National Licensing Forum on 24th November 2011.
The original forum played a valuable role in informing licensing policy development, implementation and compliance for much of the 1990s and the first half of the last decade. Since the Licensing Act 2003 went live in November 2005 however, the forum had fallen into disuse.
Given the on-going importance of licensing and the high profile nature of related problems, the Institute of Licensing initiated the re-establishment of the forum with the intention of once again providing the opportunity for discussion between representative groups in relation to licensing issues.

The Institute of Licensing’s National Training Event (NTE) for 2011 was a sell out last year with over 230 delegates attending over the three days.
The un-matched line up of speakers and topics, included former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith talking alongside Philip Kolvin QC on Legislative Reform, Philip Kolvin QC speaking on the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, Harvey Vasey representing the DCMS on the Schedule One consultation on potential deregulation of regulated entertainment, Susanna FitzGerald QC and Sarah Clover (No 5 Chambers) looking at relevant Case Law, Gary Grant (Barrister at Francis Taylor Buildings) and many more...
