Institute Members have a continuing obligation to demonstrate and develop their own professionalism, and to support and advance their profession.
Institute of Licensing CPD scheme CPD requirements are assessed on a 12-monthly basis, and will not be backdated for more than 18-months. Courses that take more than 12 months (such as degree or other courses) may be included for several years' requirements. Allowances may be made for exceptional circumstances, and recognition of the CPD requirements of other appropriate professional bodies.

Provided the activities can be shown to be related to professional advancement, and contribute to the development of professional skill and knowledge, they may include a mixture of activities on licensing itself and on business, local government, community safety, administration, management, customer psychology or consultation procedures.
