LBRO newsletter launched
Published Date: 29/Jun/2009
LBRO News launches this week and heads of local authorities and business organisations aiming to keep up to date with the latest developments in local regulatory services need look no further.
The regular e-newsletter supports local authorities in the delivery of trading standards, environmental health, licensing and fire safety services by providing news and project summaries linked directly to useful resources available on LBRO’s website.
It will also be sent to key business organisations to raise awareness of the benefits better local regulation can bring to enterprise.
The first edition focuses on four key resources from LBRO:
guidance and advice on effective local regulation in the economic recovery and beyond: how councils can harness the potential of their regulatory services
best practice case studies from the ‘Cutting Red Tape’ theme of the Beacons Awards, highlighting local authorities with excellent front-line services
guidance on Primary Authority where companies operating across more than one council boundary have the opportunity to form a partnership with a single local authority which then provides reliable advice other councils must take into account when carrying out inspections or dealing with non-compliance
information on the Trading Places scheme, in which leading UK companies offer the chance for local regulators to step into their customers’ commercial shoes, giving them the opportunity to understand how enforcement operations impact on the day-to-day running of a business.
Graham Russell, chief executive of LBRO said: 'Effective regulatory services can give a real boost to businesses through improved delivery and reducing red tape.
Through LBRO News, we will highlight issues which are key to supporting and improving these services and we hope that it will be quickly viewed as a valuable resource by those who receive it.'
LBRO News will be distributed to 600 heads of service across every local authority in the UK and to businesses through key business organisations.
LBRO News will be also available in the Better Regulation section of the Institute library
