Licensee Wins Review Case Over CCTV Dispute

A Lincolnshire Licensee has won his case against a licence review after refusing to hand over CCTV material from his pub to police.

It was only a matter of time before this happened. I think the Police now need to go back and make sure that they comply with the legislation

There are rules and regulations (sometimes called Acts of Parliament!) EVERYBODY must comply with them, even the police. I agree with the above posting.

This one is set to run and run. The police invariably ask for a CCTV condition on any new alcohol or late night refreshment licence, even though it may not be "necessary" but will it be deemed "appropriate" for all such premises in future? The devil is in the detail of its wording and then its enforcement. In one recent case, Polie sought and were granted (without notice) a suspension of a licence when they found that 96 seconds of CCTV were missing because (as it turned out) the system was doing its daily reboot. Fortunately, the LA rescinded the suspension when the cause was pointed out to them but the premises nevertheless lost a very busy night's trading as a result......
