The role

Working as part of a small specialist team we are looking to appoint a person to assist with the day-to-day work of the Licensing Team at North Herts Council

It will involve having responsibility for various aspects of licensing and duties will include dealing with the initial applications, the preparation of licences and permissions, provision of advice and guidance, report writing, the inspection of licensed premises, investigation of complaints and formal enforcement action.

The successful candidate will be offered continuous development opportunities.

The experience you will bring

You will have:

Previous experience, or some knowledge, of the local authority licensing functions, particularly regarding the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, hackney carriage and private hire licensing, and other local licensing regimes.

The ability to prioritise, plan and manage your time effectively, demonstrating the ability to meet demanding deadlines.

Experience of communicating verbally and in writing with a wide range of audiences.

The ability to undertake licensing enforcement activities and premises inspections

A willingness to undertake recognised licensing qualifications such as the Professional Licensing Practitioner Qualification from the Institute of Licensing

The successful applicant for the post will be background checked with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
