Licensing Assistant - City of London Closing Date: 23/06/2023

Salary Range: £37,360 - £42,050 pa inclusive of Inner London weighting (excluding pay award from 1
July 2023)

About us

As the governing body of the Square Mile, we’re responsible for the licenses that allow businesses,
cultural organisations and our hospitality sector to thrive. It’s a huge responsibility. Work that creates
opportunities, feeds the economy, fosters careers, opens the door to new experiences, and ensures our
City remains one of the world’s great destinations.

The role

A part of our diverse Licensing Team, you’ll expand your policy and legal knowledge while helping us
process requests for all kinds of licences, from Al Fresco dining, hospitality venues to Massage and
Special Treatments.

There’ll be a number of administration duties, for example allocating cases around the team,
corresponding with licensees, dealing with consultations and updating our databases and website.
There’ll also be the chance to join and, once confident, lead site visits – advising on a range of licensing
matters. So it’s important you’re a confident character who enjoys collaboration: you’ll often work
alongside the Police, solicitors, local authorities and others on inspections of site notices, suspended
licences and the acknowledgement of Temporary Event Notices.

About you

Similar licensing experience would help. But so long as you’re well-organised, can work to competing
deadline, have attention to detail, have a good standard of education and a genuine interest in the area,
we’d love to talk.

We pride ourselves on providing high-quality management, and the best possible learning and
development – you’ll find we’ve a wide range of in-house and external courses to help with professional
and personal development.

If you’re ready for a career in licensing here at the City of London, you’ll also enjoy a range of benefits,
including corporate gym membership rates, access to our private staff sports and social club, and
discounts at cultural centres like the Barbican.
