Licensing Officer - Amber Valley Borough Council Closing Date: 12/03/2023

Job Title: Licensing Officer

Salary: Grade 4 - £22,369 to £24,054 pro-rata per year

Hours: 18.5 per week

Directorate: Operations

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Central Headquarters, Ripley, Derbyshire

If you are interested in joining our small but busy team to help us support our
communities, then you will be well received at Amber Valley. We are looking for
someone who cares about the safety of our communities and may have experience
of regulatory services.

As a Licensing Officer you would be responsible for the processing of licence
applications and assisting applicants, members of the public and other regulatory
agencies to achieve the appropriate licensing outcome.

The duties are varied and include licensing of pubs, clubs, and entertainment
venues. Also, the regulation of the taxi trade, scrap metal collection sites, pet shops,
sex establishments and various premises ranging from provision of late-night
refreshment to gambling and street trading.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, IT skills and the ability to
organise and prioritise your own work. A knowledge and experience of local
government licensing, and of working in a regulatory service would be beneficial to
this role, however training will be provided. You will also need to be flexible in your
approach to work as occasionally you will be expected to get involved with
enforcement activities which may involve work outside of normal office hours.
