Licensing Officer - Cornwall Council Closing Date: 10/06/2022

We require an enthusiastic and well-motivated officer to undertake the role of Licensing Officer.  They need to have a "can-do" approach to work, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. In addition, they must be able to work positively and collaboratively and plan work efficiently and effectively. Experience of working in a local authority licensing environment would be beneficial.  

 

The role holder will be required to manage their own workload which will include dealing with various licensing applications, providing commercial services, responding to day to day technical licensing enquiries with a range of stakeholders. 

 

The Licensing Team is a large team within the Public Protection Service and is responsible for a wide range of licensing functions.  This includes taxis & private hire, alcohol, entertainment, gambling, animal licensing, street trading, caravan & park homes, pavement licensing and much more.  We receive and determine thousands of applications annually and are also responsible for setting policies and procedures for doing so whilst collaborating with various stakeholders.

 

The team is also responsible for investigating non-compliance with licensing law which can involve investigations, prosecutions and licence reviews. Our work includes dealing with applications, business advice, setting policies, collecting income, proactive risk based inspections, reactive visits following complaints, prosecutions, licence reviews and committee hearings.
