About the Role 

You will be joining a council where Environmental Health and Licensing plays a key role in delivering high profile services. The team works to improve public health and to protect the safety of residents and visitors, whilst supporting businesses and licence holders to operate safely and efficiently and also being fully compliant with the relevant licensing regime.

Our team is passionate about delivering high class, customer-focussed services and we are looking for a dynamic and positive Licensing Officer to join us.

The primary purpose of this post is to support the delivery of the full range of licensing functions, ensuring compliance with national legislation, Guidance and local policies. As a Licensing Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring that the Council meets its statutory obligations, taking action where requirements are not met as well as offering advice and guidance where needed.

 

About You

A highly skilled and motivated individual with extensive regulatory experience of all areas of Local Authority licensing, including the Licensing Act 2003, the Taxi and Private Hire regime, Gambling Act 2005, and Animal Welfare. You will be accustomed to carrying out a range of compliance and enforcement activity, managing a diverse case load of complex matters.

With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you must be able to interpret and convey complex information both in oral and written form; to educate and secure compliance across a range of disciplines. You will have a proven track record of partnership working and supporting colleagues in the Licensing Technical team.

In addition, you will possess excellent organisational and analytical skills, an ability to problem solve and adapt to competing priorities whilst remaining calm under pressure.

Preference will be given to individuals who hold a BII Level 2 National Certificate for Licensing Practitioners Higher Qualification or equivalent and evidence of continuous professional development.

Additional Information 

Some out of hours working (evenings and weekends) will be required

An ability to meet the security standards to hold a Gatwick Airport Pass and an Enhanced Data Barring Service check is required for the role.

A full current UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle will be a requirement of the role.

Applicants will need to be able to deal with the physical requirements of the role.

Attendance at some evening meetings and some out of hours work will be required. For which time off in Lieu will be given or pre-arranged overtime can be agreed with your line manager.

Due to a potential conflict of interest, those persons who are currently operating as a licensed individual or who are related to the same are not permitted to apply.
