Job description

Full-time / 37 hours per week / Permanent

Be at the forefront of ensuring public safety – whether that be residents travelling in a taxi, going to the pub, or donating to charity.

Join our busy, established, and friendly team who are responsible for administering licence applications, registrations and permits under various legislation. These include Town Police Clauses Act 1847, Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, Licensing Act 2003 & Gambling Act 2005. We deal with consents including Charitable Street Collections, House to House Collections and Sex Establishment licences as well as others.

You’ll predominantly work remotely however you'll be required work from the office to cover knowledge tests and ID document checking at the Customer Service Centre on a rota basis.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

 

What you’ll be doing

You’ll administer licence applications in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions and the Council’s policies and procedures. Working as part of a team you’ll assist in the continuity of business support to meet the varied service needs. This includes providing expert advice and guidance to members of the public, businesses, and stakeholders such as Police, Fire service as well as colleagues in other services. You’ll review and validate applications, issue licences, and write reports. You’ll work closely with members of the public, licence holders, applicants as well as external Agencies, Councillors and Senior Management.

 

What you’ll need

You’ll have experience and understanding of relevant legislation and licensing principles or other similar regulatory processes. With previous administrative experience, you’ll have excellent verbal and written communication skills particularly on the telephone and by email. You'll have experience of using LALPAC and going forward experience of using IDOX CLOUD would be beneficial. You’ll understand the importance of providing excellent customer service. Using proficient IT skills, you’ll be able to use of MS office applications including spreadsheets and mail merge. You’ll be reliable, enthusiastic, with a can-do and professional attitude towards the role to manage a busy workload.
