Your Role

Working as part of a small specialist team we are looking to appoint an experienced person to assist with the day-to-day work of the Licensing Team at North Herts Council.   

It will involve having responsibility for various aspects of licensing and duties will include dealing with the initial applications, the preparation of licences and permissions, provision of advice and guidance, report writing, the inspection of licensed premises, investigation of complaints and formal enforcement action. 

The successful candidate must have:

  • Previous experience of the local authority licensing functions, particularly in regard to the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, hackney carriage and private hire licensing, and other local licensing regimes. Experience of HMO licensing is desirable but not essential 
  • The ability to prioritise, plan and manage their time effectively, demonstrating the ability to meet demanding deadlines
  • Experience of communicating verbally and in writing with a wide range of audiences
  • Experience of undertaking licensing enforcement activities and premises inspections
  • A recognised licensing qualification equivalent to the Professional Licensing Practitioner Qualification from the Institute of Licensing
  • The successful candidate will be offered continuous development opportunities
