East Cambridgeshire District Council (ECDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.

Situated in the heart of the Cambridgeshire just 20 minutes north of Cambridge, East Cambridgeshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents and businesses are at the heart of our decision-making.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Licensing Team on a permanent full-time basis to support us with a vast range of licensing duties. In this busy and varied role, no two days will be the same. You will be dealing with a wide range of licensing tasks from differing areas of licensing including alcohol and entertainment licensing, animal welfare, and taxi licensing, whilst working alongside an existing full-time Licensing Support Officer and a Compliance Officer. You will report directly to the Senior Licensing Officer. This is a chance to really make an impact, learn new skills, and be part of a supportive team.

We are looking for an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills. You will be experienced in using Microsoft Office, and will be self-motivated, confident, and proactive. You will have some previous administrative experience, and be able to manage your own workload with minimal supervision to meet multiple deadlines.

Having a good general knowledge surrounding the concepts and principles of licensing administration would be helpful, but we're committed to finding the right person, and to this end, an experienced administrator with an interest in licensing would also thrive in this role.

Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

If you are looking to work for an organisation that prioritises environmental sustainability, the Council has made a clear commitment to operate in a responsible and sustainable manner and has recently been awarded the bronze accreditation of the Investors in the Environment scheme.

Closing date for completed applications is: Wednesday, 9th August 2023

Interviews will be held on: Thursday, 24th & Friday 25th August 2023

In return, the Council offers a range of benefits including:

  • flexible working
  • childcare scheme (in approved cases)
  • occupational health programme
  • training and development
  • holiday, sickness and salary pension scheme entitlements

The Council is an equal opportunities employer.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Customer services on (01353) 665555 and ask to speak to the Senior Licensing Officer.
