Summary  

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and committed individual to join our dynamic, pro-active and progressive Environmental Health and Community Safety Service; the function of which is to provide a safe, healthy and attractive environment for all those who live, work or visit the City of Exeter.

We are seeking a Principal Licensing Officer to lead and co-ordinate the provision of statutory licensing functions across the historic cathedral City of Exeter.

You will discharge the Council's licensing responsibilities with reference to relevant legislation, codes of practice and guidance. To achieve this, you will lead the Licensing Team, who undertake a full range of duties, including the processing of licence applications and the enforcement of applicable legislation.

You will also contribute to policy development to ensure the provision of efficient and effective licensing services to the required statutory standard. You will work with the Environmental Health and Community Safety Manager in developing policies in accordance with statutory requirements.
You will have recent leadership experience and experience of licensing enforcement and administration and related legal practices and procedures.

Travel to work-sites, premises and area offices throughout the city will be required. There will also be some requirement to attend evening meetings and out of hours work can be expected.
