About us

A Team Manager post within the Shared Regulatory Services has become available managing a multi-disciplinary team of professional officers and other technical and support staff. Under the direction of the Operational Manager (Neighbourhood Services), the post holder will manage an extremely busy frontline service operating across Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan delivering a range of Licensing functions across the Council areas and providing direct support and advice to elected members when determining licensing applications. You will be responsible for ensuring the discharge of statutory functions through Committee and Hearings and will provide expert advice and support to Chairs of Committee as part of your role. As a key Senior Officer within the SRS, you will be working in partnership with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and will represent the service at a national level on licensing matters.

The Shared Regulatory Service operates across the three partner Councils, Bridgend, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan under a single management structure. The Service is primarily accountable to a Joint Committee of Elected Members, but continues to serve the Licensing and Public protection Committees of each partner Council and in some instances each Cabinet on corporate matters.  

About the role

Grade 11, SCP 40-43, £46,549 to £49,590 (pay award pending)

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: Permanent, 37hrs with some weekend and out of hours working

Main Place of Work: multiple locations across Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan

About you

You will need:

  • Demonstrable relevant experience of successfully operating at a team leader management level or higher
  • Budget management experience particularly in the field of Licensing
  • Experience and knowledge of a broad range of Licensing statutes
  • Experience of using management information systems to ensure an integrated approach to market surveillance and the monitoring of KPIs.
  • Experience of stakeholder management and partnership working related to Regulatory Services.
  • Experience of leading the delivery of enforcement programmes and delivering successful outcomes
  • Successful track record of leading, managing, and developing people
  • Experience of making significant and effective professional judgements and decisions
