Business and Planning Bill Update (21 July) Published Date: 21/07/2020

The Business and Planning Bill has completed its scrutiny in the House of Lords and will now go back to the House of Commons for consideration of the proposed amendments.

The House of Lords completed its scrutiny of the Bill on the 20th of July 2020.  The Lords proposed a number of amendments to the Bill which has been sent to the House of Commons for consideration.

Proposed amendments include:

  • A duty to have regard in particular to the needs of disabled people when considering pavement licences
  • A smoke-free seating condition
  • The Secretary of State may by regulations specify conditions for pavement licences
  • A pre-cut off time for the purposes of selling alcohol for consumption on the premises
