Gambling Commission Consultation on changes and updates to the Licensing, Compliance, and Enforcement Policy Published Date: 19/11/2021

The Licensing, Compliance, and Enforcement Policy (the Policy) builds on the Gambling Commission’s Statement of Principles and sets out its regulatory policies in relation to:

  • Assessing risk
  • Licensing operators and key personnel
  • Carrying out compliance activities
  • Regulatory and criminal enforcement

The Commission amend the Policy from time to time to ensure that it remains clear to operators and other stakeholders, transparent and up to date.

The Consultation

The Gambling Commission are seeking views on proposed changes to the Licensing, Compliance and Enforcement Policy, which was last amended in 2017. These include changes which are intended to:

  • Set out the Commission’s position on products which appear to require dual regulation
  • Clarify some of the Commission’s requirements relating to operating and personal licences
  • Incorporate a new special measures approach which the Commission have been piloting over the last 12 months
  • To reflect a number of changes to the Commission’s  process on licence review, suspension and regulatory settlement
