Home Office launch "informal survey" on Alcohol Licensing Fees Published Date: 06/04/2023

The Home Office is conducting an informal survey of Licensing Authorities in England and Wales to determine the costs associated with alcohol licences.

The aim of this survey is to help the Home Office understand the true administration costs to licensing authorities from processing and enforcing alcohol licences, in comparison with current, centrally set fees.

The survey, only sent to Licensing Authorities, includes questions about the financial costs to the licensing authority and the resources needed to carry out these activities. The Home Office said that, in order to respond, Licensing Authorities will need information about their Licensing Authority’s staff wages, estimates for the time it takes to carry out licensing activities and information about enforcing a multiplier charge.

The survey must be submitted but 22 June 2023.
