The Alcohol Licensing (Coronavirus) (Regulatory Easements) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 Published Date: 14/09/2023

We reported in August on the Government's policy U-turn relating to Regulatory Easements. saying that "the Government has decided to extend the alcohol licensing regulatory easements relating to off-sales, set out in the Business and Planning Act 2020 (BPA), until 31 March 2025."

The Government have now published The Alcohol Licensing (Coronavirus) (Regulatory Easements) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 to extend the alcohol licensing regulatory easements relating to off-sales until 31 March 2025.

Regulation 2 extends the application of the modifications for a period of 18 months, from 30 September 2023 to 31 March 2025. The expiry date was changed to 30 September 2023 from 30 September 2022 by S.I. 2022/978. Prior to that, S.I. 2021/1049 had changed the expiry date to 30 September 2022.

These Regulations come into force on 28th September 2023 and extend to England and Wales only.
