Each region is operated by a locally elected committee and the chairman / nominated director of each region serves on the Board as a director / trustee.

Home Office Consultation on Proposed Late Night Levy and Extensions to EMROs

A Home Office consultation launched yesterday is seeking views about two measures in the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 that will be implemented through regulations: Early Morning Restriction Orders (EMROs) and the late night levy.

The Institute of Licensing intends to respond to the consultation, and will be consulting members in order to gather views which will form the basis of the response.

Telford & Wrekin Council and West Mercia Police have joined forces to help out the borough’s private hire drivers by backing a campaign to get night time passengers to pay their fares up front.
Shaken and Slurred

As the countdown to Christmas commences, South Yorkshire Police with support from other
members of the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership launch their ‘Shaken and Slurred’ Christmas campaign on 1 December 2011. This James Bond style campaign hopes to discourage irresponsible drinking and emphasizes key messages relating to safety and alcohol awareness during the festive period.
Designated drivers rewarded this Christmas

Designated drivers will be rewarded in more than 8,000 pubs and student union bars across the country as part of the THINK! Christmas drink drive campaign, launched today by Road Safety Minister Mike Penning.


REGIONAL MEETINGS - WEST MIDLANDS

The next meeting for the West Midlands Region will be held at the Birmingham and Midlands Institute www.bmi.org.uk on Tuesday 28th February 2012.

Speakers

Dr Teela Sanders from Leeds University will be talking to members about SEVs.  Andrew Parsons from the Home Office and Leo Charalambides from Ely Chambers will be speaking about the PRSR Act 2011.
