Scottish Government issue advice to Personal Licence Holders 13th August 2018

The Scottish Government has issued guidance for Personal Licence Holders whose licences are due for renewal this year.

We previously report on the lack of guidance from the Scottish Government on the impending personal licence renewals.

The Scottish Government have now published guidance for personal licence holders.

The document outlines the following key dates:-

  • 31st August 2018 – Personal Licence Holders can begin applying to renew their licences
  • 31st May 2019 – Absolute deadline for submitting a Personal Licence renewal application. However, applicants who leave it this late are advised that they still risk losing their licence.
  • 1st September 2019 – Expiry date for Personal Licences granted on or before 1st September 2009.

The Government’s advice highlights that in addition to renewing a Personal Licence every 10 years, Personal Licence Holders are also required to undergo refresher training every 5 years.
