Driver Pleads Guilty To Illegally Plying For Hire In Hyndburn 2nd November 2017

Hyndburn Council has successfully prosecuted a driver for illegally picking up passengers.

A Hyndburn taxi driver, Mr Abbas Abdullah Ali Suleman, pleaded guilty to illegally plying for hire without a Hackney Carriage Licence and the related offence of using an uninsured vehicle at Blackburn Magistrates Court recently.

Mr Suleman of St Annes Crescent, Rossendale was ordered to pay over £440 in fines and costs and also received six penalty points on his driving licence.
Cllr Gareth Molineux, Cabinet Member for Taxis and Private Hire vehicles, said; “The safety of the travelling public in Hyndburn is our priority, the licensing rules are there to keep the public safe and we take any breach of them very seriously. We don’t want residents and visitors to Hyndburn to get into an unlicensed vehicle, driven by a driver who is not properly licensed and checked. We therefore take a tough line on anyone who thinks they can flout the license rules and we won’t hesitate to use the full force of the law to protect the public.”
