We are currently looking for a Casework Investigator to join our team in Birmingham where you will be managing your own investigations to ensure cases are handled in a high quality, timely and cost-effective way in accordance with our legislation, policies and procedures.

Your Role

As a Casework Investigator, you will conduct regulatory reviews (investigations) into failures by gambling operators to comply with conditions of their licence and the licensing objectives. This will involve identifying and distinguishing between breaches which can be disposed of promptly using other regulatory tools and those that require further investigation and action.

Your role will also involve:

  • Conducting criminal investigations into breaches of the Gambling Act 2005 including those providing illegal facilities for gambling and supplying illegal gaming machines.
  • Conducting interviews with witnesses and suspects to gather information and evidence, collating and analysing material obtained to determine its relevance. Preparing witness statements and ensuring the recording of all evidence and unused material obtained during an investigation, pursuing all reasonable lines of enquiry.
  • To understand and apply judgement and have an awareness of the strategic context in which the issue or case fits.
  • Being accountable for recommendations and outputs whilst also being able to withstand challenge from stakeholders both internally and externally at all levels of an organisation.
  • To support and contribute to the ongoing development of policy and guidance. Maintain an awareness of changes in legislation, policy, corporate governance or other requirements that may impact on the Commission, communicating those changes to colleagues and stakeholders as appropriate.

About You

  • Excellent communication skills with experience in engaging with and managing stakeholders, including operators, legal representatives and wider colleagues.
  • Experience in conducting evidence-based investigations and representing the organisation in interviews and hearings and presenting to stakeholders where required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work at pace, managing competing deadlines and priorities with strong time management skills.
  • An ability to work collaboratively within the team.
