Grade C (SCP 8 - 12) £20,852-£22,571

Permanent, Full Time (37 hours)

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Licensing Team at Charnwood Borough Council.  The Service has responsibility for all matters relating to licences and registrations, leading on the statements of Licensing Policies required under the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, Scrap Metal Act 2013 and Taxi regulation, together with policies, required as a result of changes in legislation. The job holder will ensure applications are received, checked and processed to ensure licences are issued within statutory deadlines and to deliver an efficient Licensing function.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating responses and issuing various licences within tight deadlines.  They will also deal with enquiries and complaints from various organisations.

Candidates need to be well-organised, confident and able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. You must be computer literate and practical experience working with databases would be an advantage. You will work closely with a wide range of stake holders, including emergency services, various internal departments, outside agencies, Members and the public. 

Able to work on your own initiative or as a team worker, with the ability to adapt, maintain accuracy, meet strict deadlines, maintain confidentiality and be flexible during periods of high workload. The successful applicant will be expected to use their own initiative and judgement.  The post holder will have to be able to deal with potentially stressful and confrontational situations.

Requirements

A ‘can do’ attitude and be willing and able to learn, work well within a fast paced team, and be IT literate.

Previous experience of local authority licensing and/or regulatory services will be advantageous.

The post is hybrid (with the ability to work at home and on a weekly rota basis within the office) based within the Licensing Team of Regulatory Services Department, Charnwood Council Southfield Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 2TX.
