Salary - £29,222.50 - £33,722.00 per annum

Weekly hours – 37

The Job

Cherwell District Council are committed to being a district of opportunity and promoting safe and healthy communities. Central to these priorities is the work of the Licensing team. An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed person to join our busy but friendly team.

The successful candidate will be working across the full range of licensing functions including alcohol, taxi and private hire vehicles, late night refreshments, animal, gaming lotteries as well as the licensing of charitable collections and scrap metal dealers.

You will be required to process licence applications in accordance with statutory time limits and to take appropriate enforcement action when required. This exciting role will also include interviewing people, writing reports, and attending court when required.

The Person

You will need to be able to communicate effectively with the public, licence applicants, license holders, partner agencies and members of the council in a tactful and confident manner and be able to demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving with good negotiation and mediation skills.

You will be expected to work within the team and independently. Practical experience in enforcement is required together with a working knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act or the willingness to learn. You should therefore have the ability to understand and interpret legislation and manage your workload effectively. You should be familiar with Microsoft Office as well as having experience of maintaining and using databases.

This role offers flexible working arrangements based on service delivery needs together with some out of hours working which may include evenings and late night working on occasion.
