Location: Town Hall
Salary: £46,464 to £47,420 per annum
Post Type: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Closing Date: 23.59 hours BST on Sunday 21 April 2024

Communities and Environment – Environmental Health.

Our busy Licensing Service delivers the full range of district council licensing regimes, including taxis, alcohol sales, entertainment, gambling, and miscellaneous street-based licenses and consents. The Service is responsible for the whole regulatory licensing process from application through to any necessary compliance enforcement.

We are looking for an experienced licensing, environmental health or other regulatory professional to lead the Licensing Service.  You will be responsible for managing a team of six licensing technicians, supporting and developing team members to deliver a high-quality customer focused service.

You will engage with regulatory partners and with the business community and others to support high licensing standards within the city and to contribute to the wider community safety and public health agendas. Knowledge of the principles and practice of local authority run licensing regimes, excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships are therefore essential.

We are embarking on an ambitious project to review all our operating systems and procedures and to move to a new software system that will open opportunities for enhanced service delivery to all licence holders within the city. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in that work from the outset and so we are looking for somebody with the enthusiasm, experience and potential to help shape our licensing services of the future.

Experience of delivering local authority regulatory licensing work or equivalent is essential, but we are more interested in your potential to develop the service, the team and yourself than in the breadth of your current licensing knowledge.

As an employer we like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of employee benefits including flexi time, hybrid working, a minimum of 30 days’ annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), family friendly policies, access to an Employee Assistance Programme, Local Government Pension Scheme, AVC’s, life assurance scheme, payment of professional fees, discounted parking, cycle to work scheme and discounted bus and rail fares.
