Business Secretary: 4th July earliest date for re-opening of pubs and bars Published Date: 10/06/2020

After media speculation that the Government might bring forward the date for pubs reopening, the Government confirmed it has no such plans.

During the Government's press briefing yesterday (Tuesday 9 June) business secretary Alok Sharma outlined the Government’s plans for lifting the current restrictions.  He confirmed that the Government will “continue to follow the roadmap, which sets out our ambition to reopen these sectors from 4 July at the earliest” – referring to pubs, restaurants, cafes and other licensed venues.

He said: “As soon as we can, we will publish further safer working guidance for restaurants, pubs and bars, as well as hairdressers, barbers, nail bars and related services."
